Walmart Canada, Competitors, Make Nice For Sustainability

They may have had to swallow some pride, but several big competitors have accepted Wal-Mart Canada Corp.'s invitation to the retailer's Green Business Summit next month.

The Canadian unit of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT), which has steadily taken market share from rivals since 1994, is hosting the event Feb. 10 in Vancouver - a day before the start of the Olympics being held in the same city. The conference will bring together more than 300 leaders from government, non-government organizations, and business to share best practices and new ideas in areas like energy and waste management.
